CPC condemns first lady’s health ‘secret affair’

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has described as “opaque” the manner in which the health condition of Nigeria’s first lady Dame Patience Jonathan has been shrouded in secrecy. National Publicity Secretary of the party Rotimi Fashakin in a press statement at the weekend said since the First Lady discharges some of her duties with public funds, it is implicit that the presidency updates Nigerians on anything that might inhibit her performance of such roles.
“It is quite sad that the Jonathan administration is treating this issue of First Lady’s health in the same opaque manner that has been its trademark. The silence of the Presidency despite wide speculations about her health is tantamount to holding the Nigerian people in contempt.  It smacks of immaturity and leadership deficit.”
Fashakin said the presidency would do well in bringing the full details of the first lady’s health condition to the knowledge of Nigerians.
